 undefined Brence Culp – Chief Financial Officer

Brence CulpBrence Culp joined the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles as Chief Financial Officer on September 18, 2006.

Previously she held positions in the Office of the Chief Legislative Analyst, responsible mainly for oversight of the City's $6.7 billion budget; in the Office of County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, responsible mainly for oversight of the County's $20 billion budget, general government, audits and finance; and, in the Office of Fifth District Councilman Michael Feuer, responsible for the City's Budget and Finance Committee.

Prior to her work in public finance, Ms. Culp taught public and private middle and high school, founded and managed two small businesses, worked as an advocate for poor and abused women, and practiced both corporate tax and real estate law at the New York and Los Angeles offices of Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher. Since migrating to local government in 1999, Ms Culp has also co-founded two non-profit educational organizations.

Ms. Culp received her bachelor's degree in great books from the University of Chicago in 1986 and her Juris Doctor from New York University in 1996. She has lived and worked in the urban core of Chicago, New York and Baltimore, and greatly enjoys working collaboratively to realize the dynamic opportunities of urban Los Angeles.
