 undefined Industrial Land Use Procedures

At the direction of the Mayor, the Industrial Land Use Study was completed

   1. To evaluate the City’s existing adopted policy regarding industrial land;
   2. To analyze in detail industrial land in portions of Greater Downtown, Hollywood, and
       West Los Angeles; and
   3. To address how our departments should handle applications for proposed changes
       from industrial use to residential and other non-industrial uses.

The result of the two-year effort underscored the appropriateness of the current policy adopted by the City Council and Mayor and contained in the General Plan Framework and elsewhere in adopted documents, and makes no change to any policy.  As a result of the study, the General Managers of CRA/LA and DCP are providing guidance regarding implementation of the existing policy to their respective staff members, who are responsible for evaluating applications filed on industrial land.

It also provides guidance to planners developing new Community Plans, Redevelopment Plans, Specific Plans, Designs for Development and other long-range plans that include industrial land.   Staff recommendations concerning both applications and, new planning documents, will continue to be developed with the public input and review mandated by law and presented to the respective Commissions,  the City Council and to the Mayor of City of Los Angeles in the usual manner.

The results of the study will be shared with the City Planning Commission on January 10, 2008 and with the Community Redevelopment Agency Board of Commissioners on January 17, 2008.
