The CRA/LA is involved in a variety of housing programs designed to help alleviate the severe shortage of affordable housing in the City of Los Angeles. These programs are based on the objectives of the Agency's redevelopment projects, California redevelopment law and the housing policies of the City. The CRA/LA Interim Housing Policy (the "Policy") is intended to serve as the framework for the development and implementation of all housing in which the CRA/LA is involved. It establishes objectives as to location, income mix, tenure type, household type, management, occupancy standards and the major parameters of the Agency's financial assistance programs.
The CRA/LA reviews the approves the process for CRA/LA assisted Housing Developments. The document below informs interested members of the public of the CRA/LA’s planning review and approval process, and provides guidelines for the development of CRA/LA assisted housing projects. For more information contact the CRA/LA's Housing Department at (213) 977-1636 or email comments@cra.lacity.org
Agency assisted housing is privately owned, and designed to enhance the communities in which it is located. If you live in a Redevelopment Project Area, and are interested in learning more about how to qualify for Agency financial assistance, contact the Project Manager for that area. A list of Project Areas, with links to maps and information on how to contact the appropriate Project Manager is available at the CRA/LA Project Areas webpage.
CRA/LA periodically issues Requests For Development Proposals on specific sites throughout its seven regions. A Development RFP has a fixed submission date, after which all proposals are evaluated and ranked. This process often involves significant community input. The staff then recommends one proposal to CRA/LA Board of Commissioners. Check with regional and project area staff for the requirements specific to that project area, you can visit out Development Opportunities page for current postings.
