Artist Profile

Artist Wayne Healy was raised in East Los Angeles. Healy studied mechanical engineering resulting in a highly successful 23-year career in aerospace. During this time he also pursued his interest in art and in 1975 he united with friend and fellow artist David Botello to establish East Los Streetscapers (ELS), one of the most enduring public art teams to come from California. Healy began his international art odyssey by curating the first exhibit of Chicano art in Europe in 1983. In 1991, Healy left aerospace to devote full time to art and earned his MFA from California State University, Northridge in 1999. Healy has exhibited both nationally and internationally: Santa Monica Museum of Art, Santa Monica, CA; Riverside Art Museum, Riverside, CA; Museum of Tobacco and Salt, Tokyo, Japan; and the Kunst Museum, Vejie, Denmark.
