Description:

Anne Preston’s steel sculptures, evocative of human silhouettes, grace each escalator landing in the spacious Bradley Wing Atrium. Each sculpture is 13½' h and comprised of 24 radiating vanes that fan out at the upper portion. The sculpture’s crown is gently illuminated from within by an inner light source located in the base.

Artist Profile

Born in Seattle, Washington in 1942, artist Anne Preston received her BFA from Tufts University and her MFA from California Institute of the Arts.  Her functional artworks strive to capture the desire for intellectual and spiritual growth and lucidity.  Preston was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Sculpture in 1988.  Preston has also received commissions for public artwork installations from the San Francisco Courthouse and the San Francisco International Airport.  The artist continues to exhibit at the Rosamund Felsen Gallery in Santa Monica and lives in nearby Valencia, California.
