Project: Wells Fargo Building (Citibank Center)
Project Location: 444 S. Flower Street
Project Type: Developer
Description:
Located on the upper plaza level of the office complex, Bruce Nauman's sculpture consists of two 6'h x 20'w x 10'd identical Corten steel shapes with concrete bases that mirror each other: the "trench" is the circular ring at the top of one shape; the "tunnel" is the circular ring on the bottom of "trench"; the "pit" is the triangular form opened to the sky; and the "chamber" is the triangular form pointing to the sky. Diagonal "shafts" connect the trench to the chamber, the tunnel to the "pit." "Trench, Shafts, Pit, Tunnel, and Chamber" is a scaled down version of a proposed earthwork previously designed by Nauman.
