David Bunn
A Place for Everything and Everything in its Place
1993

Project Area: CBD/Financial Core
Project: Central Library
Project Location: 630 W. Fifth Street (Bradley Wing)
Project Type: CRA Initiated

Description:

Installed within the walls of the elevator cabs in the Library's Bradley Wing are old library catalog cards beginning with the phrase "The Complete Guide to...." On the elevator shaft wall viewable through a long glass window are catalog cards corresponding to the subjects found on each floor. As the elevator is in transit, these cards rush by in a blur and are visable again when the elevator stops.

The Library's seven million catalog cards were considered obsolete when the Library changed to a computerized system with the opening of the renovated Library.
