Description:

The GRAMMY Museum cost approximately $34 million and opened as a part of L.A. LIVE, a 4 million square foot/$2.5 billion sports, entertainment and residential district adjacent to the STAPLES Center and the Los Angeles Convention Center in the South Park district of Downtown.  The Museum is located at Olympic Boulevard and Figueroa Street, where it offers four floors of interactive exhibits, as well as a place for educational gatherings and intimate concerts.  The CRA/LA worked with L.A. LIVE developer Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) and the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS), the parent organization for the GRAMMY Awards, on the design of the facility, as well as plans for its funding and operation.

Artist Profile

The GRAMMY Museum explores and celebrates the enduring legacies of all forms of music; the creative process; the art and technology of the recording process; and the history of the GRAMMY Awards. Through educational and public programs, the Museum is able to offer its guests a rare glimpse of life “behind the scenes” by hosting candid conversations with legendary artists, highlighting performances from emerging artists on the brink of fame, and creating substantial archives to ensure that the programs are a piece of living history.

Assisted by the strong educational foundation of the Museum, the education department is dedicated to helping students use music as a gateway to learning and as a way to inspire and cultivate creativity and critical thinking. The Museum provides students the opportunity to explore traditional school subjects through music by offering daily school tours, workshops and performances as well as a full range of after school and family programs.
