Artist Profile
With a playful approach, Mark Lere is able to create contemplative spaces drawing on the viewer’s sense of touch, sound, and sight. He has exhibited his sculptures at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; University of California, Irvine; North Dakota Museum of Art; and the Temple Gallery, Temple University, Philadelphia. Major commissions of the artist’s sculptural work include: Microsoft Corporation, San Francisco; GSA Border Station, Calexico; California Plaza, Ventura; and Seattle Scatter, Washington. Lere is currently working on public art projects for Santa Monica; Los Angeles Metro Transportation Division 9 Headquarters Rail Department; Warner Center Sculpture Park, Thousand Oaks; and the Hartsfield International Airport, Atlanta. Originally from North Dakota, Lere studied art at the Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colorado (BFA) and later at the University of California, Irvine (MFA). The artist lives and works in Glendale, California.
