Description:

Working with the building's architect, artist Michael Davis extended the entrance to this residential tower located directly across from MOCA. Davis added nine elegant lamp-posts to help define and open up the entrance. The posts of polished granite, brushed stainless steel, and glass stand on a small square metal base with an angled rectangular main form bearing a metal cone-shaped fixture.

Artist Profile

Michael Davis is currently working on public projects for the Port of Los Angeles, City of Ventura, and Providence, Rhode Island. In 2006, he was commissioned to create a public artwork for the University of Southern California’s Bloom Art Walk. Davis has been awarded two National Endowment for the Arts Artists’ Fellowships, a Hand Hollow Foundation Artist Fellowship, and an AIA Award. His works can be found in numerous public collections including: Albuquerque Art Museum; Laguna Art Museum; the City of Los Angeles; the City of Dallas; the City of Santa Monica; the City of San Jose; and Washington State University. The artist received formal training at California State University, Fullerton. Michael Davis lives and works in Los Angeles.
