Description:

The artist worked with the Downtown Property Owners Association (DPOA) of the Fashion District to develop pole markers and determine locations for each within the Fashion District. His markers complement the DPOA marketing program, provides something unexpected to the pedestrian, and creates a dialogue with other municipal signage.

Artist Profile

Born in Athens, Greece, Paul Tzanetopoulos was encouraged by his family from a young age to pursue his interest in architecture and the arts.  The artist’s public art works are often conceptually driven interactive inter-media pieces.  In addition to Los Angeles’ Fashion District Markers, Tzanetopoulos’ noted commissions include a sidewalk design for 7500 Melrose Avenue Retail Center, Los Angeles; Hands-On, Los Angeles; and Lightscapes, Nevada Institute for Contemporary Art, Las Vegas.  Paul Tzanetopoulos graduated with a BA, Honors, from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and with a MFA, Honors, from the University of California, Irvine.  The artist lives and works in Los Angeles.
