Description:

"Seven Roses" was a collaboration between Neal Taylor and Elaine Fuess Parks. Painted on the roll-down doors of the historic Victor Clothing Company building. Featuring seven white roses and other subjects such as doves, the mural's bright colors and abstracted imagery enliven this corridor of Downtown's Historic District.

Artist Profile

Artist Neal Taylor distinguishes himself with his use of a bold primary color palette and straightforward geometric patterns.  Taylor has collaborated on numerous projects with composer Drew Lesso to create works such as Art Dock in Los Angeles and the University of Hawaii, Manoa.    Taylor has also participated in several international exhibitions including Harajuki Festival, Tokyo, Japan; New Art, Frankfurt, Germany; American Pop Culture Today, Laforet Museum, Tokyo, Japan; ZTZU Out of Canada, Calgary, Vancouver; and the traveling show of the 9th Annual Original Drawing Exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Rijeka, Yugoslavia, and England.  The artist lives and works in Hollywood, California.

Elaine Fuess Parks studied Ceramics at California State University, Los Angeles where she received her MFA in 1999.  Parks has received numerous grants from the Nevada Arts Council and was recently awarded the Governor’s Arts Awards Commission in Nevada.  Parks’ ceramic works have been exhibited at the National Council on Education in the Ceramic Arts, Louisville, KY; Nevada Museum of Art; Inner City Clayworkers Gallery, Sydney; and Shanghai, P.R.  The artist serves as adjunct faculty for Great Basin College in Tuscarora, Nevada where she teaches Ceramics, Sculpture, and Art History.
