Description:

Located in the main central plaza between California Plaza's two high-rise office towers, the Water Court boasts restaurants and stores in a mixed-use area where the public can shop, dine, and mingle. The centerpiece of the Water Court is a fountain with ocean-like wave motifs designed by WET Design. For live performances, the fountain is turned off and transformed into a stage. Grand Performances hosts a series of concerts at the Water Court fountain that are free and open to the public.

Artist Profile

WET Design is a firm that develops site-specific installations for municipal, commercial, institutional, and residential buildings around the world. Each of WET Design’s water features are developed specifically for their individual environments. Mark Fuller, co-founder and CEO of WET Design, began working with water and technology while studying at the University of Utah. In the early 1980s, Fuller worked for the Walt Disney Company to create the popular Leap-Frog water feature at EPCOT Center. In 1984, Claire Kahn joined the company as Director of Design and redirected the firm’s focus to emphasize design as its principle core. WET has since been commissioned to create a number of water features across the globe including the Los Angeles Music Center’s public plaza; a water and fire musical fountain in West Edmonton, Canada; Fountains of Bellagio, Las Vegas; the restoration of the Prometheus Fountain, Rockefeller Center, New York; and an installation for Burj Al Arab, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The firm is based in Sun Valley, California.
