Building & Other Permit Approvals

The Council District Nine Corridors South of the Santa Monica Freeway Recovery Redevelopment Project Plan requires CRA/LA’s review and approval of any permit application before the Department of Building and Safety can issue a building permit.  The redevelopment plan for the Project Area contains development standards regarding density, land use, and design.  Developers and contractors are strongly advised to contact Project Planner at (213) 977-1600 early in the process in order to prevent last minute difficulties.

Community Advisory Committee (CAC)

Approved and pending building permits are presented at each CAC meeting.  CAC meetings are an opportunity to provide the Project Planner with feedback regarding development and conditions surrounding development.  These regular meetings are also the forum for developers to present their projects to the community for greater input.

Designs for Development

Signage -  There is an existing Design for Development prohibiting particular types of signage within the Project Area.  Copies of this Design for Development are available in the Records Department of the CRA/LA.  Any individual proposing new signage in the Project Area should obtain a copy of the Design for Development and with its contents.

Design Guidelines– There is currently a process underway to create written standards that will guide development within the Project Area.  Information regarding the participation in the preparation of these documents will be available at regularly scheduled CAC meetings.
