Description:
The West Valley Facade Improvement Grant Program is part of the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles Business Attraction and Retention Program.
This business-friendly program offers conditional grants to local business tenants and property owners to improve the appearance of their storefronts and buildings. The program also includes complimentary architectural/design services. The goal of the Facade Improvement Grant Program is to attract and retain retail and commercial businesses in the West San Fernando Valley.
Improvements covered by the Facade Improvement Grant Program include:
- Signage
- Awnings
- Painting
- Lighting
- Storefront and street front windows and entry-ways
- Parapets
- Landscaping
- Architectural design (as needed)
Improvements NOT covered by the Facade Improvement Grant Program include:
- Interior improvements (ceiling, lighting, shelves, display cases, furniture)
- Structural Repairs (roofing)
- Ventilation Systems (heating and air conditioning)
- Public right-of-way improvements (sidewalks)
Assistance offered through the Facade Improvement Grant Program:
For Business Tenants
- Tier One Grants: Qualified business tenants can receive up to $20,000 per storefront ($40,000 maximum conditional grant)
For Property Owners
- Tier Two Grants: Qualified property owners can receive up to $40,000 per storefront ($250,000 maximum conditional grant)
ALL Participants Must Agree to the Following Conditions:
- Provide an executed CRA/LA Improvement and Maintenance Agreement.
- Provide an executed Promissory Note and/or Deed of Trust.
- Pay ALL necessary City construction permit fees and other approval fees associated with the facade improvements.
- Hire a contractor at Prevailing Wage rates as determined by the State of California
