Chandler Outdoor Gallery
1999-2001

Project Area: North Hollywood
Project: Chandler Outdoor Gallery
Project Location: Chandler Boulevard between Vineland and Cahuenga
Project Type: CRA Initiated

Description:

For many years MTA's thirteen block right-of-way along Chandler Boulevard between Cahuenga and Vineland was nothing to look at. A magnet for graffiti and trash, this future bikeway path has been dramatically improved through the efforts of local activist Mary Garcia and nineteen local artists. With support from the CRA/LA, the Mayor's Targeted Neighborhood Initiative (TNI), LA Cultural Affairs Department, and the North Hollywood Community Forum, the project unfolded in three phases. Visitors can view temporary and permanent murals, sculptures and other installations by the following artists: Karl Abramovic, Phoebe Beasley, Guillermo Bert, Jody Bonassi, Patricio Calderon, Mario Cespedes, Hynsook Cho, Betty Dore, Barbara Freeman, Debbie Joseph, Susan Krieg Georgia Love, Carey Miller, Mahara T. Sinchaire, Robert Spiewak, J. Michael Walker, and Daniel P. Wooster.
