Building & Other Permit Approval
The North Hollywood Redevelopment Plan requires CRA/LA's review and approval of any permit application before the Department of Building and Safety can issue a building permit. The redevelopment plan for North Hollywood contains development standards regarding density, design and increased sensibility to historic structures. Developers and contractors are strongly advised to contact Tabitha Lam, City Planner at 213.977.1829 early in the process in order to prevent last minute difficulties.
Development Density
Many sites in North Hollywood have "D" or "Q" Conditions which limit density, but permit the density to be increased upon the adoption of certain findings by CRA/LA's Board of Commissioners, and approval of an agreement between the Agency and the developer.  The Agency expects a substantial portion of the value increment derived from the additional density to be reflected in additional community benefits.
Design for Development

Design for Development (adopted September 20, 2007) was completed by the CRA/LA for the Commercial Core of the North Hollywood Redevelopment Project Area.  Informing the guidelines was a study by an Advisory Services Panel of the Urban Land Institute, made possible by a collaborative of the Community Redevelopment Agency (the Agency) and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro).  The advisory panel studied the evolving area of North Hollywood and prepared a report entitled "Transit and the Arts in NoHo: Building a Vibrant Community".
